Week 5 is here people and maybe just maybe we’ve gotten back on track here at Bick’s Picks. We were oh so close to a perfect week but alas it was not meant to be as we ended up finishing 3-1. Early on we were rolling as the Rams comeback gave us a win for the Over and the Jags eventually took care of business for the Dawg against the Bungles by covering AND winning outright. Unfortunately the winning ended for us after that but man did the Chiefs and Raiders make it exciting. That -4.5 for the Chiefs looked like a bad choice until Kenneth Walker decided to go nuts. Heck Tyquan Thornton even sacrificed his ankle for the cause but I should’ve known that Kirk would put me in my place. In the end I certainly won’t complain about a winning week especially since we needed it after not getting a bet right the week before. But hey let’s not get too cocky, it’s a long season and we’re only a month in so let’s get into it.

Life’s Too Short to Bet the Under

Giants @ Commanders (41.5)

You had to know I couldn’t stay away from them for long and maybe picking an Over will be more acceptable for those who are skeptical of my homer picks. Frankly I had to be on this game somehow because my guy Jayden is back and I figured the Over was the right way to do it. Sure Washington is the favorite but we always make division games harder than we should. Heck we make everything more difficult than we should. Jameis WILL have some big plays and if Jayden is actually healthy enough to play like they say he is then I expect our offense to show up as well. Also you guys should know I’m a sucker for a total like this so let’s get those 6 TDs and maybe a win for the kid.

Over 41.5 (-112)

Fade Dawgs

Browns (+2.5)(ML) @ Jets

I’m sure you’ve noticed but we’re definitely trying to pad our stats double dipping with the Dawgs. Picking the spread and the upset has just seemed like the right call and has mostly paid off so far. Now this one might be tougher for people to hop on than the Jags but just think of this as a bet against the Jets. Things started off well for them but the return of Geno has started to turn ugly. Meanwhile after an embarrassing Week 1 showing Cleveland has responded by rattling off 3 straight wins and somehow Deshaun Watson looks competent?? Wild times but as you might guess riding with the Browns is about their defense. They should control this game and give their offense enough short fields to get us a win. Meanwhile the New York offense that has mostly been cheeks should struggle to do much of anything. Time for the Dawg Pound to get a couple wins for the Dawg.

Browns +2.5 (-105)

Browns ML (+120)

Bick’s Stone Cold Lock of the Century of the Week

Bears @ Packers (ML)

Now here me out I know the Packers kinda suck and I know Da Bears have some Mike Ditka juju going on but deep in my plums I got Green Bay winning this. Chicago hasn’t been favored at Lambeau in nearly 20 years and somehow it’s with a backup QB. I’m far from a Caleb believer but he was the reason they stole two games last season and he doesn’t have his gameday nail polish on so there’s a chance Love and LaFleur don’t mess this up. I really don’t have any big reasons why I like the cheese in this spot so I’ll just say fuck Ben Johnson and lock it in.

GUEST PICKS

Brady’s 2 TD Play of the Day

The Play: Jahmyr Gibbs 2+ TDs

Week 4 was another disappointment, even as Derrick Henry scored very early on in the game and things were looking good. Unfortunately he was held out of the end zone the rest of the way and we took another loss. This week we are going with what I think is the safest player to bet on scoring twice. Jahmyr Gibbs has already found the end zone 7 times in the first four games and he faces a very poor defense in Arizona this week. Look for the Lions to put up some big numbers this week and I expect Gibbs to get his fair share of those points.
