Super Bowl LIX is here people and I’m just here so I won’t get fined. It brings me no pleasure to do a write up for a game that only the Swifties and the illiterate degenerates of Philly asked for. As you all know here at Bick’s Picks we’re extra bitter Washington fumbled away their chance at immortality. Being in attendance for the NFC Championship was an experience that I’ll never forget and honestly one I don’t regret. The outcome was of course less than optimal and I only had to briefly fear for my safety after the game but that’s the Philadelphia experience right? Just being able to watch Jayden play and be a part of that atmosphere was something special. Even though the loss still hurts it feels good to know that this is only year 1 and that we should be back. Now as always this is a gambling blog not a Washington blog and we did rush out some Championship Weekend picks while tailgating. Obviously our Commanders ML pick didn’t hit but we did predict the inevitably that is the Chiefs, giving us a 1-1 weekend. That put us at a 10-6 record going into the Big Game which is a nice change of pace compared to our regular season record of 36-46. There’s definitely been plenty of parlays we’d like to forget but I can’t deny it’s been an unforgettable record breaking NFL season and we got quite the matchup to cap it off so let’s get into it.

Chiefs (ML,-6.5) @ Eagles

As I mentioned earlier I’m pretty bitter about having to do a write up about this matchup rather getting the chance to write about Jayden Daniels one more time so full disclosure this pick is overflowing with sodium. Fuck the Eagles. Even if I truly thought they would win I just can’t do it. I could talk about the inevitably of Mahomes and all share all his outlandish playoff stats but it’d be disingenuous because deep down I was never gonna let myself pick Philadelphia. That said I’m pretty conflicted because the Eagles seem built to beat the Chiefs. With arguably the most talented roster in football it’s not really a surprise that this is the matchup unless you thought Detroit wasn’t gonna do Detroit things. They have the top ranked defense in football, best OL, best DL and the best running back. However, what they don’t have the best of is the thing in football that matters most and that’s quarterback. Hurts has the wheels and the weapons to put up points but I’d be worried if they had to chase Mahomes. That said Philly’s recipe of ball security, pushing tushes and running the rock has been pretty damn effective. Saquon is super human and the Giants can go to hell. So if you can’t tell there’s definitely part of me that thinks the Eagles could pull this out and we could see something similar to the Bucs v Chiefs Super Bowl. But I’m a bitter petty man and I’d rather lose money than bet on a division rival. So sorry Pats fans this has nothing to do with Tommy or Bill but we’re pulling for the Chiefpeat here at Bick’s Picks.
